Looks good...

Its all good, but like otheres have said, it would have been 100 times better if there were more powerups and enemies.

I love music based games, I wish there were more

Great job.

Yay

Hey, I learned flash using this tutorial, I watched it about 20 times back in 2000 before I memorized how to make a motion tween. thanks a bunch tom

cool

I'd seen the RPS25 website before, cool ideas. How did you code the AI? Was it just random or did it hae some kind of stratedgy or patern annalasys or something?

Seems like wasted talent, really good regardless

Your obviously a very good programer, this is a very in depth game, you really went all out. I'm genna be brutally honest with this review, even though your obviously good, thats not the problem.

First of all, making a sprite based game remake is ok for crappy games, but this game is really good, if you put some work towards making it compleatly origonal, it would be much more impressive, and a much more noteworthy game IMHO.

Also, while the programing was retty solid, there were problems with hit checking and general control. when you are walking into a wall, it kind of goes forward, then bounces back (hint check for hit test before actually movieng the guy:
if (hitTest(_x+xMomentum,_y+yMomentum, true))
_x+=xMomentum;
rather then what it seems like you did:
_x+=xMomentum;
if (hitTest(_x,_y, true))
_x-=xMomentum;
I can explain better over email if your at all interested)

As for the controls, its hard to say whats wrong, I would get an origonal mario platformer and try to recreate how that feals, with the same gravety/fall speed, jump speed, horiz. speed, air control, etc etc.

Dont take this review the wrong way, its a great job, but I alwas find that the better the game is, the more critical a review I give it.

Runouw responds:

Actually, while maing this game, I often times created a new file and attempted to create newer and more efficent codes for Platformer games. I ended up with extremely accurate codes and automatic Walls, Slopes, Ceilings, moving platforms, ect. and proper attacks and items that can bounce around; however, I just couldn't apply this stuff to this game without needing to redo every single course (at that moment, up to Tall Tall Mountain) to make the new code work.

YOU GOT ROBBED!

This was an amazing game. Your score right now is 3.8, thats a sin. This is such a unique and origonal game, its a shame that you dont have over a 4, atleast. Great game, great job. dont ever sell out and make the same old game like everyone else.

very cool

I beat the level 16 that alot of people seem to have trouble, but quit around level 20. good job.

great short game

good job

I always like music games

But like the last guy said, the hard-to-see things made it annoying. Also kind of hard, maybe make a neasy mode for peoiple who just wnana play ffor the music

Much better then atari IMHO

But thats only cuz its more from my time (though I only got a 775) Good job.

My socks dont match, but they're close...
